On Monday, September 21st, the defending state-champion Penn spell bowl team began their season at the East Noble Invitational with a perfect score of 90. Columbia City came in a distant second with a score of 56. Kouts followed up with a score of 50.
Penn’s perfect varsity spellers included Michelle Tapp,Athreya Sundaram,Muqsit Buchh, Kanika Arora, Alice Kwak, Presto George, Hannah McGinness, Hannah Smith, Faihaan Arif, and Chris Yun.
Junior Varsity perfect spellers included Amy Bernard, Yejee Oh, Fezaan Kazi, Maggie Finnessy, and Tina Lu.
The Penn spellers host the next competition here at Penn at the Penn Invitational on October 1st in the Penn cafeteria.
