The Penn girls tennis team ended their season in the regional finals with a tough loss against Saint Joe. Penn went in to their post-season confident, having ended their regular season 17-1 with a last tough win against Plymouth.

Penn went into the Saint Joe match wanting redemption from the 0-5 loss they had during the regular season. The teams both played close matches, but Saint Joe was just ahead. Number one single senior Haylei Snelson had a very close match with Maddie Yergler but came up short losing 7-5, 6-4.

The next set of singles had a tight first set, losing in a tiebreaker 7-6(5), 6-1. Third singles, Amanda Ahmed lost the first set 5-7, but then redeemed herself by winning the next 2 sets 6-1, 6-1. One doubles won the first set, but then lost the next 2 sets ending in a score of 6-4, 4-6, 2-6. Lastly, the second set of doubles pulled out a win, beating their opponents 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.

Penn started the post-season strong, beating both Mishawaka and Marian 5-0 and winning the sectional title for the 9th year in a row. They set a school record.

Congratulations to the girls tennis team on an amazing season.
