The Penn Kingsmen lost a close 16-28 6A state championship game to the Center Grove Trojans (14-0, 7-0 Metropolitan). The Kingsmen played on a neutral cite for the 6A state championship game just as the other 5 state championship games were played in Lucas Oil stadium.

The Kingsmen gave up two touchdowns before they settled for a 21-yard field goal by Sam Scholtes to make it 3-14. Camden Bohn dropped in a 18 yard touchdown pass to James Iapalucchi to make it 10-14.

At the end of the third quarter the Kingsmen were down 21-10. Camden Bohn blasted his way in for a 10 yard touchdown run. However the gold rush missed a 2 point conversion which made it 16-21. With 1:41 left in the game Center Grove put Penn away with a final touchdown. Camden Bohn won the mental attitude award at the end of the game for the class of 6A in football.

The Kingsmen finished the season 12-2(5-0 NIC) and NIC champions. The Kingsmen won the sectional championship and regional championship with a combined margin of 81 points in 3 games. The Kingsmen also beat Carmel 16-10 in Semi-State after losing 2 years in a row in Semi-State.
