Technology Student Association makes their debut in the Penn High School chapter. This is their first year, welcoming all to join.
TSA at Penn is led by sophomore Daniel Nilov and ITC teacher, Mr. Sinish. They are dedicated to opening opportunities for students through TSA. Nilov explains the group, “Essentially TSA is a STEM organization where students can learn different skills like fashion design, computer design, or coding.” TSA is available in 49 states, enrolling over 300,000 students in their events.
There are over 30 events at nationals, so there is something for everyone. During meetings, students work on unique strategies to solve problems given to them. Nilov explains, “They will first research their topic, research the problem statement… and building a model to represent their solution to the problem.”
The state tournament is held at Ball State University on March 4th of 2017. If students preform well, they will move up to nationals. Nationals are held in Orlando from June 21st to June 25th in 2017.
