Scuba Club Offering Trip to Caribbean

This summer, you can get the chance to go scuba diving in the Caribbean.

Scuba Club and Mr. and Mrs. Poling are sponsoring a trip to the island of Bonaire in the Caribbean. The trip will be from July 1st-9th, 2017, and students and family members can come. While registration for the 2017 trip may be over, Mr. Poling has already started preparing to register students for the trip in 2018. 

“We take students to the Caribbean, we do scuba diving, we do snorkeling, we do fish identification . . . coral identification, we look at fossils, . . . and we see how the sun is bleaching the coral. And that’s just in the water!” Mr. Poling disclosed. “Outside of the water, we look at how the island is formed, how the island makes it’s money (more than just tourism) . . . we take the students to a dormant volcano.”

If you want to register for the trip, there will be a parent meeting next fall near October and November. There will be a video shown, and Mr. Poling makes sure that all students have researched the trip thoroughly before anyone decides to go on the trip.

A passport will be needed for any student who wants to go to the Caribbean. The trip will be limited to the first 24 people with a paid deposit. Overall, the trip will cost about $2000, but if it may be any consolation, a trip to the Caribbean would otherwise be over $7000.
