After months of wondering, waiting, and deliberating, it’s official: Penn will have a prom. But it’s going to look a little different this year.

The St. Joseph County Department of Health gave Penn approval to host prom on Saturday, May 15, with a capacity limited to 850 students. Because of this, seniors are going to have the first chance to buy tickets; from the time ticket sales open on April 19 to April 21, only seniors will be able to purchase tickets. If any tickets remain, juniors will be able to purchase them as well. It’s first come, first serve, and sales will continue until May 12 or all tickets are gone–whichever comes first. Tickets cost $30–should students have any issues, they can contact Marie Doan through her email (mdoan@phm.k12.in.us) or office number ((574) 258-9537).

Another unprecedented change is the location: this year’s prom will be hosted on the TCU Freed Field. That’s right, it’s outside, so dress accordingly for a fun spring evening. In the event of bad weather, the location will be moved to the gym.

Other than that, it’ll be a classic prom. From 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM, students are promised a photo booth, royalty-themed splendor, and a truly unforgettable evening. Remember to wear your mask, student ID, and finest outfit. Thanks to COVID, the class of 2021 is getting a prom like no other, and you won’t want to miss it.
