As Winter sports get rolling here at Penn High School, the Kingsmen Swim and Dive team has a new head coach.

John Vandriessche previously coached at Riley High School since 2000. He has coached three individual state champions, two relay state champions, and 39 All-Americans. He has also coached 95 individual sectional champions and two stater runner-up finishes. He boasts an overall dual meet record of 272-50-1.

Vandriessche says he’s excited to now be at Penn.

“Penn High School is one of the premier swimming programs in the state, and I feel grateful to have been selected to lead this team,” Vandriessche said. “I look forward to building on their success and plan to make Penn High School the top swimming program in Indiana.”

He graduated from Ball State in 1993, and then earned his masters in 2005. He is the founder of South Bend Swim Club, and has also helped out many other local swim programs. He looks forward to a successful season with the Fighting Kingsmen this winter.
