Recently, PLTW’s Biomedical Science courses were awarded a $15,000 grant by Beacon Health Systems. The money will be used to fund the Principles of Biomedical Sciences, Human Body Systems, Medical Interventions, and Biomedical Innovations courses.

The Biomedical program has been growing rapidly, and with more enrolled students, there is a greater need for equipment. Thus, the PLTW Program requires more funding; fortunately, the recent grant covers the costs of new, more up to date lab equipment.

The equipment will help to enrich learning through more accurate data. New technology like shaking water baths and DNA testing equipment are a few of the many new things that the Biomedical Science courses will purchase. $15,000 is to be divided and spent between the four sections of Biomedical Science and teachers have exactly one year to spend the grant.
