For many low-income Americans, getting connected to the internet can be a very real obstacle. High-speed connectivity is vital for navigating the modern web; and for those who can’t afford the higher monthly fees, getting online simply isn’t an option.
Enter Internet Essentials from Comcast. Since 2011, the program has grown into the nation’s largest and most comprehensive broadband adoption program and the company’s number one community investment initiative. According to Internet Essentials, through August 2016, they have provided home internet access to 3 million low-income Americans (or 750,000 families).
If you are eligible to participate in the National School Lunch Program or reduced price school lunches, then you are eligible to apply for Internet essentials.
