Penn High School’s own Amrita Kulkarni has qualified for the National Speech and Debate Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky. After smashing the competition and placing first in the Lincoln Douglas Debate category at the regional competitions, she has proven herself to be one of the top debaters in the country. In fact, Penn debate teacher, Jeremy Starkweather, says that Amrita is one of his only students that has passed prelims in nationals ever, causing her to become one of the top 60 debaters in the nation. However, these are only her previous accomplishments so Mr. Starkweather, as well as all of us, are eagerly awaiting what she will do this year at nationals.
