Over the weekend on July 27th, PNN traveled to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to experience the Harley Davidson Homecoming, and it did not disappoint! The gates to Veterans Park opened at 2 PM, and an hour later, the first of five Nitro Circus events kicked off! Over this last weekend on July 27th, PNN headed down to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to see what Harley Davidson Homecoming had to offer…it did not disappoint! Gates to Veterans Park opened at 2 pm and an hour later the first of 5 Nitro Circus events kicked off!
Nitro Circus and Monster Energy
These performers showcased their skills on FMX bikes, BMX bikes, and even skateboards. For the first time in North America, Nitro Circus and Monster Energy athletes attempted a groundbreaking crossover stunt where Freestyle Motocross (FMX), BMX, and skateboard athletes each executed a backflip while crossing paths in mid-air. Defying gravity, the FMX riders jumped 75 feet in distance and 40 feet in the air, while the BMX and skateboarders leaped 40 feet in distance and 40 feet in the air, as seen in the image above!
The Iron Stage and Thunderbirds
Located near the Nitro Circus set, the Iron Stage held the following artists: Otoboke Beaver, Scarlet Demore & DJay Mando. In between sets on the Willie G. Davidson Stage, artists would come to the Iron Stage to keep the Homecoming attendees entertained. In a post on his Instagram, DJay Mando had this to say, “It was our first time at Harley Homecoming, and we did a full rock music set, it was too much fun!!”
Also during this time, DJay Mando was playing, the Air Force Thunderbirds made a surprise air show visit over the festival. One Homecoming attendee was especially impressed by this airshow, “The precision and coordination those pilots have is astronomical. Having a father in the Air Force really allowed me to feel more appreciation and respect for some things other people may consider simple that are not simple at all. It was cool seeing these jets fly over, it was a pleasant surprise.”
The Willie G. Davidson Stage
This was the headliner stage which held the following artists’ performances: Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Offspring, Cypress Hill, and Destroy Boys. Towards the end of the Cypress Hill performance, the group asked the crowd to get as low as they could to the floor before going into a cover performance of “Jump Around” by House Of Pain. Needless to say, everyone participated and it was a special moment of unison that sent chills throughout the crowd.
The last performance PNN was able to cover was The Offspring. The band is celebrating the 30th anniversary of their hit album “Smash” and their setlist was filled with hits such as Self Esteem, Come Out and Play, The Kid’s Aren’t Alright, and many more. They also played their latest single “Make It All Right” live at the Homecoming festival in anticipation of their new album “SUPERCHARGED” coming out on October 11th of this year. One Homecoming attendee had this to say about their performance, “They sounded so rad! They sound like how they did back in the day and like how they do in the studio y’know? They were awesome and I’d see them again if given the chance.”
To close off the night, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers took the stage. The band had a healthy mix of some of their biggest hits to keep the casual fans happy, as well as a handful of deep cuts that die-hard fans of the band loved and appreciated hearing live. Harley Davidson has already announced the dates for the 2025 Homecoming which will be July 10th-13th!
