FFA WHEP Competition

For the second year in a row our FFA WHEP Career Development contest team placed first in the Indiana Northern Regional WHEP competition with a score of 1591.

The next closest team had a 53 points difference. In individual scores, the only senior, Isaac Loutzenhiser lead the team with a score of 614. Elena Effertz came in second with a score of 543. Then Sam Goetz a junior come in with a score of 434 and Coy Harris a freshman with a score of 271.

The students had to take a test and identify 57 different species of Indiana wildlife. For the second part of the contest students had to be able to identify different animal species from pictures, taxidermy mounts, skulls, or the call of the animal. For the final part of the competition the students had to match species of animals to a proper wildlife habitat improvement practices.

  The Penn FFA WHEP Career Development Contest team has qualified to go to state in the WHEP competition that will be at Purdue Universities’ Martell research forest. This years competition will be on May 13th at 8AM.
