Mr. Poling’s Oceanography class has been learning about SCUBA diving and snorkeling for the past few months.

SCUBA means Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. Mr. Poling wants to make sure the students understand the risks involved.

He talks about how students have mixed reactions after they dive for the first time: “They wanna dive more. It’s kinda like a bug; instead of being bitten by the bug, you get bitten by the SCUBA diver. It’s not for everyone, I have had people say that they don’t like it. Some people like it in the pool. Most people say it’s amazing, like being in outer space but only underwater.”

This was for a grade for everyone taking the Oceanography class. Mr. Poling is experienced with SCUBA diving and snorkeling. He has had over 1,000 dives and has certified over 300 students.
