It’s being called the biggest social experiment ever.
Netflix is currently casting for the second season of its hit show, Squid game: The Challenge, and two teachers here at Penn are finalists in the casting process.
Coach Brad Harper and Mr. Bennett Blazo are both in the final round of casting for the hit reality show.
The show is based on the hit Netflix Series Squid Game. 456 contestants will take part in a series of heart-stopping games to become the sole survivor and walk away with the 4.56 million dollar cash prize.
Blazo says he was inspired to apply after watching the first season of the show.
“I just looked at the credits on the last episode of the squid games and just said, are you interested in being in the next season? And I was like, you know what? Some of these people are redonkulous, and I deserve to be on,” Blazo said, “so I was like, I’m gonna go to that website and see how it’s gonna go. And boom, I made it.
Over 267-thousand people have applied, and both Blazo and Harper are now in the final round of casting. Both teachers have gone through multiple rounds of interviews to be featured on the show. Blazo says he already had a plan for the cash prize if he were to win.
“I got some debt I need to pay off, you know, got some baddies after me. Got to pay those people off. On top of that, probably help my parents out, and then just put in some kind of like financial thing so I can make a steady income off of it.”
The final casting decision should be announced soon. Make sure to stay with PNN as we continue to cover this story. Coming up next week, hear from coach harper on his thoughts on the reality competition show.
