Speech and Debate Goes to State

Recently, the Penn Speech and Debate Team qualified for the state tournament. On Saturday, March 12, the Penn Speech and Debate Team will head to Indianapolis to compete.

In order to qualify, an individual must place in the top six positions at sectionals. The top six members of the team will compete at Fisher High School, starting at 8 a.m. Bryce Yoder, Sanjana Kulkarni, Rohit Das, Manny Smith, and Emma Tarktington qualified for the Penn Speech and Debate State Team. Each qualifier will debate or speak about a different topic, ranging from international politics to poetry. Each member places individually, but individual points go towards the collective score and place of the team. Make sure to wish the debate team luck before they head to state this weekend!
