Attention students of Penn High school, there is a worldwide issue that has been going around in our school. This issue is vaping. Thousands of kids are doing it, ranging from middle schoolers to high schoolers. Vaping is very bad for you and your internal organs. The News in Health website by the US government quotes, “About 37% of 12th graders reported vaping in 2018, compared with 28% in 2017”. In 2017 they took the same tests, and the results were still bad. However, you can see that during 2018, there was an astronomical growth in the amount of vaping teens. This year vaping use has taken some very large steps, and is affecting young people who do it and get addicted. It is now causing lung cancer and seizures, but some kids refuse to accept that vaping has long term effects. In addition, there have been over 2000 injuries due to people’s electric cigarettes lithium batteries overheating and catching fire. The Truth Initiative website, a group which tries to publicize how vaping and smoking hurts teens, quotes “Defective, poorly manufactured and improperly modified e-cigarettes have also been known to explode and cause injury.”.
