March is Women’s History Month, which is dedicated to celebrating and honoring the achievements of women throughout history, and their ongoing impact in society.
Girl Up Club vice president Allison Tessier says, “Women’s history month is basically a time to celebrate women and their contribution to our society in our world at large.”
This year’s theme for Women’s History Month is “Moving forward together”, aiming to recognize women who have dedicated their lives to education, mentorship, and leadership.
Women throughout history left a huge impact in today’s society, despite the hardships and social norms they had to fight against, and sophomore Mara Sandoval agrees.
“Women’s contributions have paved the way for women like me to be standing here,” Mara Sandoval said. “Without certain women in our history, we wouldn’t even be able to go to school right now, so we are fortunate to have them for sure.”
Women’s history month is a time to recognize the impact women leave in society, and appreciate and support them. And some ways to celebrate Women’s History Month includes supporting women owned businesses, reading books written by female authors, and learning about women in history.
