Junior safety Paul Moala gave Penn the spark the they needed after the Kingsmen only scored once in the first half against South Bend Adams last Friday. Moala caught the ball around midfield and ran into a group of Adams players. Moala looked like he had nowhere to go and then suddenly he stomped his foot into the grass and spun the opposite way and it was a foot race to the end zone.

“I feel like the punt return just boosted the overall momentum honestly. We knew we had to get something going after our slow start band once we got back on the field we accomplished that task” said Paul Moala.

The task was completed as the Kingsmen outscored the Eagles 21-0 in the second half.

The “Gold Rush” defense wore down the Adams offensive line in the second half, the Penn defense recorded all of their quarterback sacks in the second half. They also held the Eagles running game to negative one yards and just 120 yards through the air.

“After halftime we were able to come out with more focus and more pressure and that lead to sacking Burgess 7 times.” said Senior Nate Boone who put a crushing hit on Burgess in the third quarter.

Rashid Maclin rushed for a 14 yard touchdown to seal the victory in the fourth quarter. Penn’s rushing attack carried the load for the Kingsmen and rushed for over 180 yards.

The second ranked team in 6A, Penn Kingsmen (5-0) will look to build off of their strong start and look to finish their season undefeated. Their next opponent is against South Bend St. Joseph, a team they defeated by 5 touchdowns last season. Kickoff is set for 7 P.M. and the game will be played at Penn’s TCU Freed Field.
