The Kingsmen have started off their season strong, coming off a state championship last season.

The Kingsmen are 8-0 in NIC play, with a few big wins over South Bend Clay, South Bend Washington, and Elkhart Memorial in the past week.

Penn faced off against South Bend Clay last Monday and dominated the Colonials, finishing them off in 5 inning. Former Penn baseball player Nik Connor started for Clay and gave up 4 runs in 3 innings of pitching. The 10 run rule came into effect as the Kingsmen won 14 to 2. Brandon Stesiak smashed two home runs in the win.

On Thursday night the Kingsmen matched up with South Bend Washington, a team that Penn lost to last season 1 to 0. Indiana Baseball commit Skylar Szynski pitched against them last year and took the loss, this season he had different intentions. Szynski pitched a complete game, giving up no hits or runs, earning the shutout win. The Kingsmen offense was sparked by Ryan Herman who had two hits and drove in three runs and Ryan Lau blasted a triple and single, driving in two runs in the win.

Saturday night the Kingsmen defeated Elkhart Memorial in a thriller, with Matt Kominkiewicz’s hitting a game winning single in the 6th inning. Penn defeated Memorial 50 to 4 and kept its undefeated streak in NIC Play. Tonight the Kingsmen will travel away to South Bend Adams, at 7:30 in another NIC match up.
