Kingsmen Court is the student government of Penn High School. It’s best known for the monthly initiatives it takes in the form of fundraiser events and school-wide campaigns.
The past month’s monthly initiative was to raise awareness about breast cancer. Clubs such as Kingsmen Against Cancer and the Med Club decorated the school with pink ribbons and other similar decorations. During the week of 10/11, students were given pink ribbons and encouraged to wear pink on Friday. Kingsmen Court sold bracelets for $1 each at lunch for the whole month. The revenue was donated to the Kelly Cares Foundation, which funds breast cancer research and education.
Turkey Legs is the current monthly initiative. It will be held until November 22. Participants are dressing in Thanksgiving-themed outfits and collecting donations for Riley Children’s Hospital. Kingsmen Court is coordinating the collection of money and the announcement of the event.
The monthly initiative for next month is the Adopt-A-Family event. During December, the school will select one needy family within the Penn district. Kingsmen Court will ensure that the family’s needs (food, winter clothes, toys, etc.) will be provided by the clubs of our school by assigning each club a certain category of items to give.
The purpose of the monthly initiatives is to have the entire school engaging in a positive community-based cause. Kingsmen Court wishes to make a difference in the student community as well as Michiana. Having their efforts well-known across the school will definitely help them achieve this goal. We encourage students to participate in and support their monthly initiatives.
