Dissections, guest speakers, & more! Penn Medical Club is starting their second year this October!

Penn Med Club was founded by senior Julia Kwak to help students gain knowledge & experience in the medical field. She said that students should join Med Club, “If you’re interested and if you want to learn more about what the medical field is like… we focus more on surgeries or careers specifically on that.” With no application, students of all grades & capabilities are able to join.

The meetings consist of the presidents guiding through dissections & guest speakers occasionally stopping by. The co-presidents, Julia Kwak & Maddi Thurn, have a huge impact on how the club runs.

Club sponsor Mrs. Harshberger says of the co-presidents, “They are running the whole thing by themselves, they are great students.”

Speaking to a large crowd, Kwak said that it can be difficult to control, but she knows they are all equal and wants to have a friendly environment. “It’s a good number to both feel like I can speak over them, they can listen to me, but also feeling like one is not above the other.”

Meetings are not final, but mid-October is the expected start time. If you have any questions, please email the club account at pennmedclub@gmail.com or follow the club on twitter @pennmedclub. For more information as the club grows, stay tuned to PNN.
