For any students aspiring to get their literary art into a competition and have it read by others, the Spectrum Dried Ink Contest is something to look out for.
You can submit your art into Spectrum from Monday October 3 to Friday October 21. Work can be submitted on paper to the Spectrum boxes or folders found in your English classrooms, LGI A and B, and in the IMC.
The Dried Ink Contest is a chance to submit your literary and artistic work to a semi-competitive magazine that will also take the best works among the students to submit to major art competitions such as Scholastic and the National Council of English Teachers Literary competition are the two big ones. The Dried Ink Contest itself is a writing competition that accepts submissions through the month of October. The top three poems, pieces of prose, and works of art are selected.
When asked what amount of innovation they were looking for in the contest, Spectrum adviser Mrs. Armstrong said, “As for innovation, it’s hard to quantify student voice. We’re looking for originality, we’re looking for sophistication. We’re looking for what sets a student’s piece of writing apart from the others.” Either way, the Spectrum Dried Ink Contest is a great way to start off your writing career if you have an interest, and can help push you forward among the literary community.
