The Penn Gay-Straight Alliance has announced its support for the GLSEN National Day of Silence, to occur on Friday, April 15.

The Day of Silence is, according to its official website, “a student-led national event that brings attention to anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment in schools. Students…take a vow of silence in an effort to encourage schools and classmates to address the problem of anti-LGBT behavior by illustrating the silencing effect of bullying and harassment on LGBT students and those perceived to be LGBT.”

If you are interested in participating, you should display a gold Day of Silence card that can be picked up in the commons from 7:45 to 8:20 on the Day of Silence. Students “may not be able to remain silent in class based on required classroom activities,” according to an email from Mr. Hope.

Please contact GSA adviser Mr. Westra at jwestra@phm.k12.in.us with any questions.
