As 2014 comes to a close, what music made us jump up and sing the lyrics every time we heard it? Lets break it down so you can find out what songs were trending in 2014.

As we look at music in 2014, one power house singer sticks out among the rest in pop culture, Taylor Swift. Since the release of her single, “Shake It Off” on August 18th from her new album, “1989”,  it has blown up all across the country, and the world. The song was #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 list from the release date until September 6th. Her current leading single is, “Blank Space” which has been holding on to the #1 position for five weeks.

So, what’s next for Swift as she heads into the new year? Well, Taylor announced the 1989 world tour. It will be kicking off in Japan on May 5, 2015, the tour will hit North America and Europe before heading to Australia in December of 2015. If you’re interested in seeing Taylor Swift in concert, she will be at Solider Field in Chicago on Saturday and Sunday, July 18th and 19th at 7:30 p.m. CDT.

What about concerts? Who took the crown this year? Well, it’s One Direction. They too have had a big year with two #1 singles in 2014 from their new album, Four. They received a total of 131.5 million dollars in concert revenue this year with their world tour. In second place is, The Rolling Stones, with a total of  115.1 million dollars in concert profits. The Stones wrapped up their concerts this past November. In third is Beyonce. With her surprise album drop at the end of 2013, it’s no question she would take third place with a total of 40.1 million dollars in concert revenue. Forth belongs to Miley Cyrus’s, “Bangerz” world tour with a total of 35.5 million dollars worldwide. And finally in fifth place, Lady Gaga’s, “artRave the ARTPOP Ball” leads out the top five concerts of 2014 with a grand total of 33.1 million dollars from concert revenue. Lady Gaga ended her world tour at the end of November.
