The Lady Kingsmen are picking up from where they left off last year.

The ladies begin their season on a 17-1 game win steak after losing in the Semi- State championship last year. After losing senior leader Lauren Ellenberger to graduation, someone else had to step up in her place.

Senior forward Camyrn Buhr has took on the role of a leader as she is averaging 15 points a game on the Kingsmen’s hot start to the season. As a Junior, last season Buhr was elected to the All Junior State team, The Indiana Coaches Associations supreme 15 team, and the first team Indiana Basketball Magazine.

The Ladies are ranked number 4 in the state, and have a 6-1 record against top 40 teams in the state. The Kingsmen are 17-1 and are 7-0 in Northern IndiaStill002na Conference play thus far. The Ladies best win was a 54-36 victory against Lake Central, who is ranked 13th in the state.

The game for the Kingsmen may have served as a bit of revenge as Lake Central was the team that knocked off the Kingsmen in a tight game last season in the regional championship.

The Kingsmen suffered one loss on the season, to the number 5 ranked Columbus North. The Columbus North team is the same team that defeated the Kingsmen in the state tittle game two years ago. Columbus North are the three time reigning champion of the Conference Indiana.

The Kingsmen are coming off of a big Northern Indiana Conference win against South Bend Adams, winning 74-34. The Ladies are looking forward to another big NIC match up, as they go up against South Bend St. Joseph next Thursday, January 21st. The Indians are 15-1 and are the number 17th team in the state.

The Indians vs. Kingsmen will be a  top 20 match up and will be Penn’s last big test before they begin sectional play. They will look to gain some momentum heading into the playoffs and look to have a third consecutive 20 win season.
