Trewhella’s efforts weren’t enough for the Kingsmen on February 4th against South Bend Riley. Senior Forward Matt Trewhella put life in the Kingsmen, scoring 25 in the loss, Trewhella picked up two early fouls, and Penn fell down by 9 at the end of the first quarter.
Brian Doslak and Tyler Seger both knocked down key three pointers to begin a 15-3 that put the Kingsmen on top halfway through the second. Going into halftime, Penn found themselves only down 4 points to a quality South Bend Riley team.
The Kingsmen went on a 7-0 run, started by junior guard Brian Doslak, after a key steal which lead to a layup. Doslak also knocked down a three to give Penn a one point lead.
After three quarters, the teams were deadlocked at 45. Junior Forward Nate Marino for South Bend Riley proved too much for the Kingsmen. The sharp shooter shot 6 three point shots in the second half and knocked each of Penn’s threes down. Marino finished with 20 points and didn’t miss a shot in the 75-64 Wildcat win.
Scoring leaders for Penn were Matt Trewhella, with 25 points and Gunnar Dittrich scored 15 in the loss. The Kingsmen next play against the Bremen Lions on February 9th at Bremen at 7:30. Go out and support the Kingsmen.
