On Friday May 20th, the Penn girls rugby team traveled to St. Louis and won all 3 games to earn the Division II national title. 

The ladies first game took place against Kansas City United (Missouri) and won 38-12 to move on to the semi-final against Sebastian River High School (Florida) where they won in a dominating fashion 46-0.

The championship took place on Sunday May 22nd against Hudson High School located in Ohio, in this game the girls won 40-25 and became National Champs. In an interview about how the preparation was for this tournament she said, “there was a lot of hard practSequence 01.Still002ices and a lot of fitness classes.” Emily later talked about the season overall and she said, “I am very happy with the season, I feel like we all put everything we got into it.”

Jenna Tschida was named player of the match in the championship, Kat Gearhart and Fernanda Arjona were also named players of the match throughout the tournament.

On Wednesday May 25th, Penn’s state run started at the Moose against Westfield and won 59-5. The ladies will now travel to Fort Wayne on Saturday to take on the Warsaw Area Girls at 3. If they win the Championship will take place on Monday May 30th in Fishers.
