The Lady Kingsmen softball team through 14 games is 13-1 and Louisville commit Danielle Watson is leading Penn with her pitching.

After making it to semi-state last year and losing to Lake Central 7-2, the Penn softball team has started off strong and is looking to for the state title. So far this year, the pitching has came up big this year and only given up 8 runs through the first 14 games.

A big part of Penn’s success is Junior pitcher Danielle Watson who currently has an ERA of 0.12 and is 10-0. Watson is also batting .389 with two home runs.

Senior Halle Hixenbaugh who is committed to play softball at Boston College is also a part of this Lady Kingsmen success. She is batting .545 with 10 RBI’s on the year. Another senior with a hot bat is Alyssa Griman who has a batting average of .500 and has driven in 15 runs so far, and also has two home runs.

The Lady Kingsmen are undefeated in the NIC and according to Max Preps are ranked 5th in the state and 193rd in the country. The ladies last game was against South Bend Washington where they won 17-0. They next play tonight against New Prairie at 5.
