On Friday, September 25th, 2015, a dumpling party will be held in Room 103 (which will then move to Room 134) from 3:17-5:30 PM. People interested in Chinese Club will learn how to fold traditional Chinese dumplings and steam buns. After eating the food, there will be a paper cutting activity.

For anyone interested in the class, club, or Chinese culture in general, this is an opportunity that can’t be passed up. This is an introductory meeting for any and all individuals with this interest. All the food is free and this opportunity is open to all grades.

The meeting’s purpose is to give people interested a holistic experience and learn about various aspects of Chinese culture. For those looking to live in China someday or interested in business with China, this club can be helpful in learning about Chinese history and well as a little about modern China. In order to feel safe in another culture, understanding the mindset and history of it can be very helpful. Considering the vast history of China and all its customs, attitudes, and mentalities of its people that spans two thousand years, a new activity or concept will be learned at each meeting of Chinese Club.

Various club activities:

  • Chinese tea (an expert will come in and people can try teas)
  • A Chinese history day
  • Introduction to Gongfu (kung fu)
  • Chinese checkers and chess tournament
  • traditional Chinese ribbon dancing (a professional will come in to demonstrate)
  • Chinese caligraphy day
