TEAMS 2018

 

Tests of engineering, aptitude, math and science, or most commonly known as TEAMS. On April 6, Penn 11/12 B team for Teams competed in the state-wide competition and came home as champions. Members of the winning 11/12 B team include Tingyi Lu, Yewon Oh, Michelle Kwok, Riya Patel, Ian Baker, Zach Simon, and Chelsea Chen. Participants Tingyi Lu, 16 and Riya Patel, 16 gave their word on what it’s like to be in TEAMS, how they felt about the competition, and they also gave some advice for future TEAMS members.

 

When asked about the competition,i Lu responded with, “I think one thing about our team is that we work really well together, we know each other very well, and we are all really great friends.” When asked the same question,Patel answered with, “Well our team dynamic was really great. We all worked really well with each other and we balanced each other out.”

 

Both girls gave advice for future TEAMS members, Lu’s advice was to “Pick people who work well with you and just enjoy the time you have at the competition.” Patel advised to “Be creative, know how to problem solve, make sure you have a good connection with your team and make sure to communicate well with each other.”

 

Participants of this competition have dedicated a seasons worth of hard work, energy, and team spirit for what they love to do: TEAMS. Honorable mentions of the other Penn competing teams shall be given to the 11/12 a team, 11/12 c team, 9/10 a team, and the 9/10 b team. Reporting for Pnn, this is Julia Schwartz.
