The Penn Marching Band is making its mark this year.  They started the year off right at their first competition. Competing against four schools at the Goshen Invitational, the marching band came home with first place, trophies for outstanding musical performance, visual performance and effect. They have been working very hard aiming for the top, but also leaving a good impression behind. Once again, this year on September 24th, Penn hosted the largest Marching Band invitational in the state, Carnival of the Bands, with 36 guest bands attending.  This is the 26th year they have been hosting. Mr. Northern states, “the contest itself raises anywhere from $30,000 to $40,000 a day, giving the Penn Marching Band enough money to provide more essentials for the band.” With each performance the band is trying to portray a visual, musical affect and change the scenery to “draw in the audience emotionally,” says Mr. Northern. The Marching Band has a lot to show this year… come support the Marching Kingsmen!!
