The Penn Lady Kinsmen headed out bright and early on November 26 to take on conference rival Elkhart Central at historic North Side gym.

With a win chalked up already for the JV team (38-25), the momentum was rushing through the Penn Varsity players during warmups, and all the way up to halftime.

The Kingsmen started off strong with a first quarter score of 5-2. A low scoring game from the get go, but things would quickly escalate from here.

At the end of the second quarter, the scoreboard now read 24-5 in favor of Penn. With encouragement from head coach, Kristi Ulrich, to “step on their throats and finish strong,” her team headed out onto the floor with all of the confidence and motivation in the world. At this point, senior Lindsy Kline had 2 points and fellow team captain Sara Doi had 6 points.

The quarters to follow went anything but what the Kingsmen had expected, with them being outscored 13-14, making the score 37-19. However, Penn still had a comfortable lead, and strode out onto the floor in the fourth quarter looking to take the game once and for all.

With a tight quarter in all aspects, Elkhart Central once again outscored the Kingsmen 7-16. Penn still squeaked out a win, with the scoreboard reading 44-35, improving their record to 6-1. The leading scorers at the end of the game read Sara Doi with 12 points, Tia Chambers with 11 points, and Lindsy Kline and Reganne Pate with 6 points a piece.
