The Penn baseball team is preseason ranked number 1 in 4A by the Prep Baseball Report.

Last season the Kingsmen won their fourth state championship in school history. This season they will be playing with a target on their back. The Kingsmen return both of their pitchers that pitched throughout the post season last year, including top prospect Skylar Szynski.

Szynski has been committed to Indiana University for over a year and a half now, he was considering other schools like Western Michigan, Indiana State, Louisville, Ohio State, Florida, and Ole Miss. Many believe there is a possibility of Szynski forgoing college and entering the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft. As a junior Skylar Szynski put forth a 10-1 record, pitching over 83 innings. He had 206 strike outs, and only allowed 16 runs.(0.84 era) Szynski was also elected to Indiana’s first team all state team.

Penn returns 7 of their 9 starters from last season too. Returning starters are Trevor Waite, Nik Kavadas, Brandon Stesiak, Nik Kavadas, Nolan Metcalf, Ryan Herman, and Luke Schneider. The Kingsmen will have to replace their second and first basemen from last season. Junior Matt Kominkiewicz will likely take over the starting position at second base, and Junior Ryan Lau is poised to enter the starting line up at first base.

With all that Penn is returning from last season, the Kingsmen look to become back-to-back state champions, something that has never been accomplished in school history. The Kingsmen will start their season off March 30th, at home against Northridge.
