The Penn Baseball team kicked off their season yesterday at Northridge.

After making it to the semi-state last season and being defeated by Zionsville 8-5, and losing star pitcher Skylar Szynski to the major league draft, the seniors on this years team will have to step up big.

Penn would do that against Northridge to open the 2017 baseball season earning a 6-3 win. Senior and Notre Dame commit Niko Kavadas pitched 5 scoreless innings and also slugged 2 hits. Dayton commit Trevor Waite had 2 hits including a triple and also drove in 2 runs.

Payton Kerr had 2 hits and one RBI, Ryan Lau also had 2 hits and 2 RBI’s and Nolan Metcalf had one hit in the win.

Senior Ryan Lau said “it was great to get a win the first game of the season, giving us momentum against these next two opponent.”

The team will next play Friday, April 7th at Fort Wayne Carroll and Saturday, April 8th at Andrean.
