The Penn Kingsmen played in the first round of Sectionals against the hometown favorite Elkhart Central last week.

The game ended off of a tip in from Cornell Connor in the third overtime period, after missing his first attempt. The final score would be 75-73 in favor of Elkhart Central who would go on to lose to the sectional champion Warsaw.

Drew Lutz led the team with 23 points and shot 7/11 from the field and went a perfect 7/7 at the free throw line. Noah Applegate also added 21 points on 9/17 shooting.

Penn shot 50% from beyond the arc and won the turnover battle. It was a hard fought season for the Kingsmen as they dealt with experience and a lack of consistent play. They would finish the season with a 10-13 record.

Noah Applegate was named to NIC First Team and was the only Sophomore honored. Brian Doslak also was a part of the NIC Honorable Mention as Penn’s senior captain.

Thank you Kingsmen for a good well-fought season.
