The Kingsmen defeated then number 10 ranked Chesterton Trojans to claim their third consecutive sectional tittle.
Kingsmen offense started strong going up 14-0 on Friday. Chesterton began to drive the field, but the “Wild Bunch” defense halted their drive to force a field goal attempt in the red zone. Chesterton seeking for a momentum swing, attempted a fake field goal run but the Kingsmen defense stopped them short of the first down mark. Immediately after the defensive stop Harvard football commit Camden Bohn rushed for his longest run of the season, eighty-two yards giving Penn a 21-0 lead. That would be the notion for the game as the Kingsmen took a 42-7 lead going into half.
Junior Rashid Fahim had a break out game, totaling over 100 yards of all purpose offense and two touchdowns. Fahim rushed for 77 yards on the ground, his most rushing yards of the season, he also caught a screen pass from Bohn and took it all the way to the end zone for a 44 yard reception. When asked about how far he thinks the team can go in the playoffs, Fahim responded with ” As far as God takes us.”
The Kingsmen are now 10-1 this season and have won 22 of their last 24 games dating back to last year.year. Penn’s offense is beginning to roll against opponents scoring on average 50.2 points per game in the last 5 games with an average winning margin of 31.2. The Kingsmen are putting everything together at the right time as they are on the road to state and still have a bitter taste in their mouth after losing to powerhouse Carmel to advance to the state championship last year. When asked what he thinks of the Carmel Greyhounds, junior star offensive lineman Michael Dhuivetter responded with ” I don’t want to think ahead, we’re focused on Merrillville this week.”
The Kingsmen are focused on the match up tonight as they play the Merrillville Pirates, a team that will be playing with a chip on their shoulder after losing to Penn 31- 12 in the second game of the season. The game will be held at Merrillville at 7:30 ET. If Penn were to prevail tonight, they would host the Semi- State game next Friday, whether Homestead or Carmel were to win.
